A personal note from Mary Elizabeth Wakefield: I am honoured to present for your consideration our first OzFace Featured Practitioner, Karen di Nicola of Coffs Harbour, NSW. Karen has completed all 3 Level 1 certification training modules, and has received her certifications in both Constitutional Facial Renewal and Advanced Constitutional Facial Acupuncture. Karen will be furthering her training by participating in both modules of the forthcoming certification series (April 2010) in Alchemical Facial Acupuncture Renewal, which is the second level of our unique 3-tiered certification program in facial acupuncture and related modalities. This new series of courses addresses not only somatic issues, but also psychospiritual imbalances that may contribute to premature aging. Having completed this advanced training, Karen (and her Australian colleagues) will be the very first practitioners worldwide to achieve this certification level, and have the opportunity to incorporate these transformational facial acupuncture treatment protocols into their practises. Karen, along with her husband, Bruno, is also branching out into vibrational facial therapy, and participating in the very first seminar in Facial Soundscapes: Harmonic Renewal being offered outside of North America (also April 2010); this modality incorporates the use of planetary tuning forks upon the points and meridians of acupuncture, in conjunction with a unique facial treatment protocol. Karen has been our valuable #1, "ichi-ban", teaching assistant thus far in Australia, and has assisted with two basic training modules in the past two years. She is truly an exemplar of the high standard of practitioners that we have encountered thus far in Australian and New Zealand, and we feel very fortunate to have the pleasure of working with her. As she has said in her profile, "facial acupuncture is a wonderful specialty that can be easily integrated into (a pre-existing) acupuncture practice, or it can be your focused permanent modality." Whatever your choice as a practitioner, we believe that the face is the most emotive part of the body, the mirror of the well-being of a healthy, happy patient. We look forward to featuring more of our wonderful Australian and New Zealand colleagues on this page in the future. And so, without further ado, here is Karen di Nicola ...

Practitioner Profile: Karen Di Nicola has been in practice for the past 21 years as a Chinese Internal Acupuncturist. She runs a busy, well respected and professional practice in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia with her husband Bruno. Both Karen and Bruno graduated with a Diploma of Applied Science (Acupuncture) from the Acupuncture Colleges Australia. Their lovely clinic, situated in the emerging medical area of Coffs Harbour, holds 6 treatment rooms, and is both comfortably and esthetically appointed, with many beautiful and intriguing artworks hanging on the walls of the corridors and treatment areas. When asked, Karen will tell you "that the practice is a 'general practice of acupuncture' with a little musculoskeletal work; we have tended to treat principally internal conditions and we are well regarded in this light. Consequently, we tend to be asked if we can assist with "stiff neck or lower back pain" by both clients and referring doctors". Within Karen's general practice she has a special interest in fertility and women's health and is well versed and practised in the Acupuncture IVF protocol and programme. Since Karen's enthusiastic studies in Constitutional Facial Acupuncture Renewal with Mary Elizabeth Wakefield, the practice is now expanding in a very rewarding area; she finds that she is gratified both in the practise of this new modality and by observing substantial, sustained results with her patients. Karen continues to expand in her post-graduate studies on Facial Acupuncture Renewal as a satisfying speciality to her practice. One of the best comments that Karen has had from a client is that "I can now see myself without concentrating on the wrinkles".
